Our Family Story: From Farm Fields to Fresh-Roasted Coffee ☕️🤎

We love sharing great coffee with you… but just as meaningful to us is sharing the story behind it.

We were not always a coffee company — it all started with a love for agriculture, hard work, and family.

Back in 2005, Amanda and Jeff met, fell in love, and three years later tied the knot. Before long, their first son, Joe, joined the adventure. In 2014, Jeff’s lifelong passion for agriculture became a reality when the LaShaws purchased their own farm — Jeff LaShaw Farms — where they grew crops, raised cattle and chickens, and even created their own custom animal feed.

As Jeff perfected his feed, the couple recognized something special forming. In 2015, The Golden Gem Mercantile was born — a welcoming place where locals could pick up feed and supplies, sip on a warm cup of coffee, and browse handcrafted goods from small artisans. That same year, their hearts grew again with the arrival of their second son, Jon Jon.

Then in 2021, life presented an unexpected but incredible opportunity. The coffee roaster they had partnered with for years — a man with six decades of experience — was ready to retire. He approached Amanda and Jeff and asked if they would carry on what he built. It wasn’t something they had planned… but it felt like the next faithful step.

With grit, humility, and determination, they jumped in — learning the craft, honoring the legacy before them, and slowly shaping what would become LaShaw Ranch Roasters. What began as a feed store has grown into a place where agriculture and artisan coffee come together — where community, quality, and purpose still lead the way.

Today, the LaShaw family continues to farm, roast, educate, serve, and give back — staying deeply rooted in faith, family values, and the belief that good coffee brings people together.
