Ever wonder why coffee just tastes better at a coffee stand?
It’s not luck—it’s a mix of training, technique, and a whole lot of love. We get it—sometimes you can’t make it to your favorite coffee stand. But that doesn’t mean you have to settle for boring coffee at home!
Here are a few barista-approved secrets to help you brew like a pro in your own kitchen:
✅ Grind fresh, not ahead: Coffee tastes best within minutes of grinding. Use a burr grinder if you can, and match the grind to your brew method (coarse for French press, medium for drip, fine for espresso).
✅ Use the golden ratio: Aim for about 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water. Too weak or too strong? Adjust the ratio—not the water.
✅ Brewing Method: Experiment with different brewing methods like pour-over, French press, or automatic drip to find your favorite. Each method offers a unique flavor profile and requires different grind sizes.
✅ Froth milk with a jar: No fancy steam wand? No problem. Heat milk (don’t boil it!), pour into a jar, and shake it like crazy. Or use a handheld frother to make creamy, café-style lattes at home.
✅ Store beans right: Keep your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Skip the fridge & freezer!
✅ Cleaning: Clean your coffee maker regularly to remove coffee oils and residue, which can affect the taste of your coffee. Pay attention to the filter basket, shower screen, and drip tray.
And of course, it all starts with great beans. We roast ours fresh and in small batches, so your home setup has the same quality foundation we use behind the counter.
